I don’t know if you have noticed that whether it is daily running or on the marathon track, those “great” runners generally wear vests.
The weather was really cold when I participated in a competition before. I wore a short-sleeved T-shirt and tight trousers, but the great masters in Zone A were all in the same color vest and shorts. At that time, I thought: The master is Master!
If you pay attention again, the top three on the podium are guaranteed to wear the same vests.
Why is this?
I think there are several reasons:
1. More professional image
For example, the familiar Kipchoge, no matter how cold the weather is , all running in vests during the competition.
The equipment of top runners must be sought after by experts in the circle, because it represents professionalism. Therefore, there is a popular saying in lap running: whether you run fast or not, you will see a lot less.
In competitions, the less you wear and the simpler the equipment, the more expert you are. Vest + shorts + running shoes, hiding merit and fame. As for those who wear fancy clothes, such as compression leg warmers, sunglasses, waist bags, water bottles, etc., everyone knows it.
2. It is more conducive to achieving results
In high-level competitions, the lighter the equipment, the better. The lighter the equipment, the faster you can run and the lower the physical consumption. The smaller.
Some people will say that how much difference a piece of clothing can have on your performance. But sometimes the difference between top players may be 0.1 seconds.
To give an extreme example: The running shorts that Nike customized for Liu Xiang had several laser holes on the edges. It is said that the position, number and size were calculated based on wind tunnel experiments and were not random. call taxi. The purpose is to achieve optimal air resistance parameters.
This difference may not matter to us ordinary runners, but it is still very important to high-level runners. The weight difference between an ordinary T-shirt with sleeves and a specially designed running vest can reach 50-60%, and you will feel it whether you hold it in your hand or wear it on your body.
3. It is more conducive to heat dissipation and feels more comfortable
<br/The vest has two less sleeves, so its heat dissipation performance has been greatly improved. You also wear a vest in the summer. It is indeed cooler than a T-shirt.
With the same fabric, the vest has better breathability and heat dissipation performance, making you feel more comfortable.
The armpits are a major source of sweat in the human body. A vest is more conducive to the ventilation and breathability of the armpit area, so that it will not be too sticky and affect the athlete’s performance. Since there are no sleeves, the swing arm is more flexible than a T-shirt.
Writing this, I know that some people will definitely say, then don’t wear a vest at all. Wouldn’t it be lighter and more comfortable to run shirtless?
Indeed, in summer parks and streets, many men will run shirtless. In this way, it is natural to be comfortable, but it is uncivilized. In particular, some people are not in good shape. If they go shirtless, it is not only uncivilized, but also an eyesore. It is recommended that everyone should not only think about themselves, but should at least wear a vest when running in public.
If you use the treadmill behind closed doors at home, it’s okay if you don’t wear them.
About the choice of vest:
First of all, don’t choose pure cotton, such as the white pure cotton “old man’s vest”. Many people think that pure cotton clothes are “comfortable, breathable and sweat-absorbent”. However, pure cotton clothing cannot evaporate immediately after absorbing sweat, but will stick to the body, which is very uncomfortable.
In order to run comfortably, whether it is a sports vest or a sports T-shirt, you should choose running clothes made of professional quick-drying fabrics.
Quick-drying fabric can quickly transfer sweat to the surface of the clothes, thereby achieving the purpose of quick drying. This ensures comfort on the body surface. Generally, the water evaporation rate of quick-drying fabrics is 50% faster than that of pure cotton fabrics.
Ordinary runners do not necessarily pursue extreme lightness, because lighter means more expensive. Generally, there is no need to spend such money on running.
In addition, it would be better if there are some thoughtful designs specifically for running, such as reflective signs, which would make it safer to go out at night.
Do you think running clothing will affect your performance?
