Coated fabric

is a Fabric treated with special technology. It can form a uniform layer of covering rubber on the surface of the fabric to achieve waterproof, windproof, breathable and other functions.

As a laundry person,

15 types of coatings that you must know,

How many do you know?

1PA coating

PA coating, polyacrylate fabric coating glue

(Polyacrylate abbreviated as PA), also called AC glue coating, that is, acrylic coating, is the most common and common coating at present. After coating, it can increase the hand feel, windproof, and drape. Commonly used for anti-velvet, hand feel, color and sand fixation, etc. There are also acrylic and pony glue, which are solvent-based acrylic coatings, suitable for water pressure-resistant coatings, and the price is slightly higher than AC.

Advantages:

a. Good fastness to sunlight and weather, not easy to yellow;

b. Transparency and coexistence Good capacitance, conducive to the production of colored coating products;

c. Good washing resistance;

d. Strong adhesion;

e. Cost lower.

Disadvantages:

a. Poor elasticity and easy to wrinkle;

b. Poor surface finish;

c. The feel is difficult to adjust.

2PU coating

Polyurethane coating (Polyurethane abbreviated as PU), the full name is polyurethane. After coating, the fabric feels plump, elastic, and has a filmy feel on the surface.

PU coating is a polymer compound containing -NHCOO- unit in its molecular structure, which is composed of isocyanate group and hydroxyl group The reaction formula is as follows: -N=C=O+HOˉ→-NH-COOˉIn the 1970s, Germany first synthesized PU. Around 1950, PU appeared in Europe as a textile finishing agent, but most of them were solvent-based products for dry coating finishing. In the 1960s, due to the increase in people’s environmental awareness and the introduction of government environmental regulations, water-based PU coatings came into being. After the 1970s, water-based PU coatings developed rapidly, and PU-coated fabrics have been widely used. Since the 1980s, breakthroughs have occurred in PU research and application technology. Compared with foreign countries, domestic research on PU textile finishing agents is relatively late. Polyurethane coating agents are the main types of development today.

Advantages:

a. The coating is soft and elastic;

b. The coating has good strength and can be used in many applications. Thin coating;

c. The coating is porous and has moisture permeability and ventilation properties;

d. Wear-resistant, moisture-resistant and dry-cleaning resistant.

Disadvantages:

a. Higher cost;

b. Poor weather resistance;

c. It will be hydrolyzed when exposed to water, heat and alkali.

PU coating agents are classified according to composition: polyester polyurethane; polyether olefin polyurethane; aromatic isocyanate polyurethane; fat Isocyanate-based polyurethane. According to the medium used, it is divided into solvent type and water type.

3Anti-velvet coating

It refers to the anti-down coating. After coating, it can prevent down from running away and is suitable for making down jacket fabrics. But now, any PA coating with water pressure requirements is also called anti-velvet coating.

4PA white glue coating

It refers to the anti-down coating. After coating, it can prevent down from running away and is suitable for making down jacket fabrics. But now the PA coating that requires water pressure in the coating is also called an anti-velvet coating.

5PU white glue coating

That is to apply a layer of white polyurethane resin on the surface of the fabric. The function is basically the same as that of PA white glue, but the PU white glue has a fuller feel, more elasticity and better fastness of the fabric.

6PA silver glue coating

That is to apply a layer of silver-white glue on the surface of the fabric to make the fabric have light-shielding and radiation-proof functions. It is generally used in curtains, tents, and clothing.

7PU silver glue coating

The basic functions are the same as PA silver glue coating. But PU silver-coated fabric has better elasticityproperties and better fastness. For tents and other fabrics that require high water pressure, PU silver coating is better than PA silver coating.

8Pearl coating

By applying pearlescent coating on the surface of the fabric, the surface of the fabric has a pearl-like luster, which can be silver or colored. It makes a very beautiful costume. There are also PA pearlescent and PU pearlescent. PU pearlescent is smoother and brighter than PA pearlescent, has a better film feel, and is also known as “pearl film”.

9Glossy coating

After coating, the surface is smooth and shiny, suitable for daily use at home, and is generally suitable for tablecloths.

10Silicone high-elastic coating

Also called paper-like coating. Thin cotton is very suitable for shirt fabrics. It has a plump feel, is brittle and elastic, has strong resilience and is wrinkle-resistant. For thick fabrics, it has good elasticity and fastness.

11Skin coating

–By calendering and coating the surface of the fabric, a film is formed on the surface of the fabric, completely changing the style of the fabric. Generally, the leather membrane surface is made into the front of the garment, giving it the style of a leather jacket. There are two types: matte and glossy, and various colors can be added to the coating to make a colorful film, which is very beautiful.

12Flame retardant coating

By padding or coating the fabric, the fabric has a flame retardant effect. And can be painted in color or silver on the fabric surface. Generally used to make curtains, tents and clothing, etc.

13Teflon three-proof treatment

By treating the fabric with DuPont Teflon, the fabric is made waterproof, oil-proof and stain-proof.

14Anti-UV coating

By applying anti-ultraviolet treatment to the fabric, the fabric has anti-ultraviolet function, that is, the ability to prevent ultraviolet rays from penetrating. Generally, light colors are more difficult to achieve, while dark colors are easier to achieve. For example, the coatings on sun protection umbrellas, sun protection clothing and other fabrics on the market.

15Specialized coating for cotton

Such as: cotton scratch-off coating, paper-feel coating, washed-out coating, hidden-grain coating, oil-feel wax-feel coating, colored film coating, etc.
