When the weather is cold, we need to wear knitted sweaters, and there are many types of knitted sweaters. In addition to cashmere sweaters and woolen sweaters, there are also knitted sweaters made with camel hair, yak hair, rabbit hair, etc. as the main raw materials, and even There are also those claiming to be “imitation cashmere” or “sheep wool”.
Although “cashmere” and “sheep wool” are both written with “cashmere”, they are completely different in nature. What we usually call cashmere is the cashmere fiber from goats, and whatever the fineness is from sheep, it can only be called sheep wool (or wool).
Cashmere fabric
The difference between cashmere and sheep wool:
1. Prices are different: cashmere sweaters are expensive, with most of the finished products costing more than 500 yuan, while the price of cashmere sweaters is only half or even one-tenth of that of cashmere sweaters.
2: Different standards: According to FZ/T 73009-2021 “Cashmere Knitwear”, this standard applies to fine and carded pure cashmere knitwear and cashmere blended knitwear containing 30% or more of cashmere. Judging from the scope of application of the standard, only when the cashmere content is not less than 30% can it be evaluated according to the standards of cashmere knitwear. The fiber name “sheep cashmere” does not appear in my country’s national standards at all. The so-called sheep cashmere is just some of the finer fibers in sheep wool.
3: Different warmth retention properties: The warmth retention properties of cashmere are 1.5-2 times that of wool, and the warmth retention properties are excellent.
4. Different shrinkage properties: cashmere sweaters do not shrink after washing, but wool sweaters will seriously shrink after improper washing. It is recommended that both be washed by hand.
How to judge the quality of cashmere sweaters:
1, you cannot judge whether cashmere is good by whether it pills or not
Pilling is the phenomenon of pilling caused by friction on the surface of textiles. Textiles of any raw material will have varying degrees of pilling. Wool is more prone to pilling than cashmere because it is naturally more curled, but yarn The tightness of the thread itself, the structure of the fabric and even the way you wear it have a far more serious impact on pilling than the fiber raw material. Therefore, cashmere sweaters will also pill. Whether or not the product is pilling cannot be used to determine whether the raw material of the product is cashmere.
2. Touch to see if it is smooth, waxy and soft
Cashmere sweaters have a smooth and waxy feel, are light in weight, and do not feel “tight” when worn on the body. The woolen sweater feels fuller and thicker, while the mercerized woolen sweater feels smoother. But it should be noted that some wool sweaters feel slippery because more softeners are added to the wool sweaters during post-processing, and the smooth feeling will remain after being touched.
3. Smell it to see if there is too much engine oil smell
In order to facilitate the processing of knitted sweaters, lubrication or anti-pilling and anti-static additives will be added. If Adding too much will leave a strong smell of machine oil on the clothes. Too many additives will affect the health of the wearer. It is not easy to store and may cause color stains, insect infestation and other phenomena.
4, take a look, ingredients, safety category, quality level
The most important information about a cashmere sweater is the cashmere content. Generally, if the cashmere content is as high as 95% or above, it can be marked as 100% Cashmere, pure cashmere. There are three safety categories of textiles, namely Category A textile products for infants and young children, Category B textile products for direct contact with the skin, and Category C textile products for indirect contact with the skin. You should also pay attention to this information when purchasing. Finally, cashmere sweaters are divided into three categories: high-quality products, first-class products, and qualified products. The higher the grade, the better the cashmere sweater in terms of fineness, pilling, and oil content.
