01 Cotton canvas is a thicker cotton or linen fabric. Named after it was originally used for ship sails. Generally, plain weave is mostly used, twill weave is used to a small extent, and multi-strand yarns are used for warp and weft yarns.

Cotton canvas is usually divided into two categories: coarse canvas and fine canvas.

Rough canvas, also known as tarpaulin, is commonly woven with No. 58 (10 inches) 4 to 7 strands of thread. The fabric is strong and resistant to folding and has good waterproof properties. It is used for automobile transportation and open-air warehouses. Cover and tent in the wild. The warp and weft yarns of fine canvas are generally 2 strands of No. 58 to 6 strands of No. 28 (10 inches/2 to 21 inches/6), which are used to make labor protection clothing and supplies. After dyeing, it can also be used as fabric for shoes, travel bags, backpacks, etc. In addition, there are rubber canvas, shielding canvas for fire protection and radiation protection, and canvas for paper machines. Because cotton canvas gains weight after rain, it is rarely used in occasions with high rain-proof requirements. However, it is still a good choice for dust-proof tarpaulin, because cotton canvas is the most wear-resistant of all canvases.

02 polyester canvas:

Features: high strength, good impact resistance, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, moth resistance, acid and alkali resistance, very good light resistance (second only to Acrylic), exposed to the sun for 1000 hours, strong retention of 60-70%, very poor hygroscopicity, difficult to dye, the fabric is easy to wash and quick-drying, and has good shape retention. It has the characteristics of “wash and wear”.

Uses:

Filament: often used as low-elastic yarn to make various textiles. Short fiber: cotton, wool, linen, etc. can be blended. Industrially: tire cord, fishing nets , ropes, filter cloth, insulation materials, etc. It is currently used in the largest amount among chemical fibers.

Polyester waterproof canvas is also called silicone waterproof canvas. Because it has been treated with silicone (fluorine) waterproofing, it has super waterproof performance. It is now the main fabric for tents. The disadvantage is that silicone waterproof coating After being washed by rain and snow, the waterproof effect will become worse and worse.
