Although I work on the MES management system in the textile industry, I often deal with various textile factory owners, and I have also compiled some knowledge on textile fabrics for everyone to learn and exchange
Polyester, now popularly called polyester, is the abbreviation of polyethylene terephthalate, one of the most common synthetic fibers. Normal polyester can only be dyed with disperse dyes.
The so-called modified polyester generally refers to polyester with sulfonate anions on the macromolecular chain. Now that you have anionic groups, you can use cationic dyes for dyeing. Of course, the number of its sulfonic acid groups is limited, and the entire fiber is still hydrophobic. It can still be dyed with disperse dyes, but reactive black cannot be used.
So the fabrics currently on the market called cationic are modified polyester.
Polyester (PET) textile forms include the following:
Filament (FDY)
Stretch yarn (DTY)
Pre-oriented yarn (POY)
Air textured yarn (ATY)
etc.
Polyester textiles are generally not easy to wrinkle and have good stability. Easy to wash and quick to dry, but prone to static pilling
