The official weight is the weight converted from the official moisture regain of cotton. The calculation method is: the gross weight is subtracted from the weight of the packaging (tare weight) to obtain the net weight. The net weight is deducted according to the standard impurity content rate to obtain the accurate weight at the actual moisture regain. The accurate weight is converted according to the public moisture regain rate to obtain the official weight. The calculation formula is as follows:

ⅰ Net weight = gross weight – packaging weight

ⅱ Accurate weight = Net weight*(100-actual impurity content)/(100-standard impurity content)

ⅲNormal weight = accurate weight*(100+official moisture regain of cotton)/(100+actual moisture regain of cotton)

National standard: sawtooth cotton The standard impurity content is 2.5%; the official moisture regain of cotton is 8.5%.

The standard impurity content of top roller cotton is 3.0%.

For example: a batch of cotton has a gross weight of 20 tons and a packaging weight of 100 kilograms. After inspection, the actual impurity content is 3% and the actual moisture regain is 10 %, then the official weight of this batch of cotton is 19.5 tons.

Substitute the formulas ⅰ and ⅱ into ⅲ:

Then the public weight = (20,000-100)*(100-3)/(100-2.5)*(100+8.5)/(100+10)=19528≈19.5 tons.

Supplement: The weight difference between imported cotton and domestic cotton

Imported cotton is generally based on c.i.f. Net weight settlement, so the actual cost price of domestic cotton and imported cotton with the same price will be different due to different representative weights.

Assume that the same moisture regain rate is 6%, and the net weight of impurity content is 1.5%, which is one ton of domestic cotton and imported cotton. The price difference is:

1) Imported cotton pricing basis: 1 ton

2) Domestic cotton Pricing basis (common weight): 1x(100-1.5)/(100-2.5)x(100+8).5)/(100+6)=1.034 tons

It can be seen from the above calculation that the same price of domestic cotton and imported cotton are different due to the difference in weight. This makes imported cotton appear more advantageous. In fact, U.S. cotton and Australian cotton are dried and ginning during processing, and the moisture regain rate is lower than that of domestic cotton. For machine-picked cotton, the impurities in cotton are mainly leaf impurities, with a light specific gravity and a higher impurity content than Domestic cotton should be lower. Therefore, the actual weight benefit of imported cotton is generally greater than 3.4%
