Misunderstandings in choosing thermal protective clothing
A) Treat industrial insulation clothing as fire insulation clothing
The fabric safety performance of industrial insulation clothing is generally lower than that of fire insulation clothing. It uses composite aluminum foil on glass fiber, which is easy to fall off after use and has low thermal radiation reflectivity (>70%). The base material of fire insulation clothing is usually aramid high-temperature resistant material, and the surface aluminum foil is sprayed onto the base material at high speed. The surface is smooth, not easy to fall off, and the heat radiation reflection efficiency is high (>90%). The mirror of the window is different. The mirror of fire insulation clothing is made of gold-plated glass, with a heat radiation reflectivity of >95%. Industrial heat insulation clothing usually uses chrome-plated glass. Masks or polyester transparent masks cannot well reflect heat radiation greater than 500 degrees, which can easily cause burns to the eyes and face.
B) Use thermal insulation clothing as fire protection clothing
The style of the heat-insulating suit can be the same as the fire-proof suit, but the insulating suit cannot come into contact with flames and cannot enter the fire scene. Otherwise, the garment will be damaged.
C) Confusion between thermal insulation clothing and fire and chemical protective clothing
Thermal insulation clothing is not suitable for firefighters to wear when working with radioactive substances, biological substances and hazardous chemicals during fire fighting and rescue operations. The function of insulating clothing is to insulate heat. More than 70% of the radiant heat from the fire source is reflected, and the remaining heat is blocked from the outside through the insulation layer. D) Confusing high-temperature protective clothing and insulating clothing
The difference between insulating clothing and high-temperature protective clothing mainly lies in the difference in ambient temperature and fire source.
