1. Purpose and scope

This method works on any fabric with or without a water-repellent finish.

This standard can be used to measure fabric

Impact water penetration resistance can be used to predict the permeability of fabrics to rainwater.

Especially suitable for measuring the penetration resistance of clothing fabrics

sex. This instrument can give different intensities of impact water and can measure the water resistance of single-layer fabrics or composite fabrics

1.2. The results of this test are related to the water-repellent properties of fibers, yarns, and fabric structures in the fabric.

2. Principle

2.1. Spray water onto the surface of the sample for 5 minutes, place a weighed absorbent paper behind the sample, and then weigh the sprayed absorbent paper to measure the water permeability.

3. Equipment and materials

3.1.AATCC

Rain tester

3.2. White AATCC absorbent paper

3.3. Distilled or deionized water

3.4. Balance, accurate to 0.1g

4. Sample

4.1. Take at least three samples, each 20X20cm. The sample and absorbent paper were placed in a standard atmosphere to condition the humidity for at least 4 hours before testing.

5.Process

5.1. Place a 15.2cmX15.2cm standard absorbent paper behind the sample, and weigh the standard absorbent paper to the nearest 0.1g. Clamp the specimen to the specimen holder on a vertical rigid surface. The sample is placed in the middle of the spray, 30.5cm away from the nozzle. Spray the 27±1°C water flow directly onto the sample horizontally for 5 minutes. After spraying, carefully take out the absorbent paper and weigh it quickly to the nearest 0.1g.

6. Rating

6.1. Calculate the increase in weight of the absorbent paper during the 5-minute spray time, and average the three results.

7. Report

7.1. Report averages. If it is greater than 5.0g, report it as +5.0g or >5.0g.
