REACH regulations: 4 substances will be added to the SVHC list in January 2017
On December 19, 2016, the European Union Member States Committee (MSC) unanimously approved the SVHC review substances of bisphenol A (BPA), perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) and their sodium and ammonium salts, branched and linear chains. Four substances, 4-heptylphenol (4-HPbl) and 4-tert-amylphenol (PTAP), have been identified as SVHC candidate substances. ECHA will add these four substances to the SVHC candidate substance list in January 2017 and become The 16th batch of SVHC candidate substances. So far, the number of SVHC substances in the REACH regulations has increased from the previous 169 to 173!

According to the REACH regulations, when the following two conditions are met at the same time, article manufacturers and exporters need to notify ECHA within six months of the inclusion of the substance in the SVHC candidate list:
i. The content of the substance in the article exceeds 1 ton/year/manufacturer or exporter;
ii. The weight percentage concentration of the substance in the article is greater than 0.1%.
Therefore, all relevant companies should improve the risk awareness of their products. Within six months after a substance is included in the SVHC candidate list, qualified companies should promptly complete the SVHC notification of the items and launch an investigation into the supply chain as early as possible to calmly respond to changes in regulations.
